Description: The 6 day break gives you a taste of Australia’s tropics. Cairns is the capital of the tropical north Queensland. Cairns is a cosmopolitan, busy town which is an excellent base to explore the world famous Great Barrier Reef, the unspoiled Daintree and the fascinating highlands town of Kuranda.

  • Day 1: Arrive Cairns. If you’ve just come long-haul take the day easy, get used to the time zone enjoy the sun and the newly developed Cairns esplanade. Remember to keep the fluids up - and that’s not beer! Staying at the Caravell includes a free evening meal!

  • Day 2: Head out to the Great Barrier Reef, one of the world’s top underwater destinations. An early start allows us to join our boat for a full day tourincluding two snorkeling sites and lunch.

  • Day 3:Today we head north to the Daintree to explore this pristine area. Joining a 2 day tour from Cairns we head north to Cape Tribulation experiencing the unique wildlife and gorgeous pristine rainforest that makes this area a World Heritage area. On the way north we visit the Daintree National Park and the Mossman Gorge We spend the night at JK’s Jungle Backpackers on the beach in the heart of the Daintree. $123 2 day tour inc dorm accommodation $5 breakfast $10 lunch $15 dinner $5 beer
  • Day 4:On our second day of the tour we enjoy a river boat tour on the Daintree River before returning to Cairns in the afternoon. We return to our friendly Cairns hostel. $5 breakfast, $10 lunch, $20 Caravell Hostel includes dinner $5 beer
  • Day 5:Today we take the famous Kuranda Railway and Skyway taking the historical train up to the charming market town of Kuranda in the Cairns highlands We return to Cairns by the unique cable way Skyway allowing you to stop off and walk through the rainforest canopy. $70 Railway & Skyway including transfers, $5 breakfast, $15 lunch $20 Caravell Hostel includes dinner $5 beer
  • Day 6:Today is our last day in Cairns so depending on our flight time we enjoy a lazy morning with maybe a bit of shopping at the central markets for those last minute souvenirs. Remember to allow at least 2 hours to check in for an international flight , $5 breakfast, $15 lunch, $10 airport bus transfer
