This is exactly what I plan on doing, Rob. I’m skipping the whole hostel thing altogether in favor of staying in fewer countries/cities for longer stretches of time. It really is a great way to save a boatload of money on accommodation costs.

$150/month? That doesn’t even get you a parking space here in New England! =P

Mike, sorry your comment is just being posted now. For some reason it got marked as spam, and I just now saw it and rescued it!

It’s definitely a cool and different way to travel. I’m actually a little disappointed that I’m stuck in Quito for the time being. I would love to put that $150/month to work living on the beach!

Let us now how the rentals work out for you? I’d love to hear about it!

Hey Rob, nice site. I’m not sure how it’s managed to stay under the radar with me until now. Your video was really interesting (especially the extreme close up!) as I’ll be heading to Beijing to do something similar. I don’t expect a place for $150 by any means but anything is cheaper than London where I live now. It’s great to see other people doing what I’m planning to get a wee bit of insight on how it’s working for them.

Anyways keep up the great posts, I really like what you’ve got going here.

    Kirsty

@Kirsty: Thanks very much for the kind words, and for stopping by. Haha, I’m glad you enjoyed the extreme close up… Hope to hear back from you!

Thanks so much for a great video! you just contributed to an existing idea of mine.
I’m going to try it out in India, do you know anyone who has tried it out there?
